Chapter: 773
“Maria knows how to do sugar paintings? Oh my God! I'm so looking forward to it!"
“I wonder if this is considered cheating."
“Mr. Brooks, please don't disqualify Maria. I want to see her do sugar paintings!"
“The competition hasn't even started yet, but I know Team Master Chefs will definitely win! Team Foodie has a very slim chance to win the competition."
Leif was rendered speechless upon seeing the comments.
Eventually, he cleared his throat and turned to look at Maria. "Maria, can you please explain why you know how to do sugar paintings?”
“I Learned how to draw when I was a child," Maria replied. "Sometimes, if the watercolor is used up, I would use sugar juice to replace it."
What the hell was that!?
Although Jacqueline had never taken proper painting classes, she was aware of how different it was to painting with watercolor and sugar juice.
One method used a brush and the other a spoon. How could they even be compared?
Maria was so full of crap! She was just doing this for attention.
A cold smile spread across her face as she raised the microphone to her mouth and announced, "So Maria will be making a sugar painting with a style. I, for one, can't wait to see this!"
She wanted attention so desperately? Then she would damn well have it!
This was a Live broadcast. If Maria wouldn't be able to submit her work later, everyone would know that she wasn't as talented as she made herself appear. Everyone would see that she was nothing but a big liar!
Jacqueline smiled to herself, pleased with her quick wit. Then she saw Maria nodding, “Okay.”
After the interview, Hyatt kept the five entertained, teaching them the basic techniques of sugar painting.
Meanwhile, the production team prepared five small melting pots to be used by the contestants.
The sugar paintings were to be made on marble slates.
Hyatt dipped a spoon into the pot and dropped a small amount of melted sugar onto the slate. The sugar hardened immediately on the cold surface. Using a thin metal ruler, he deftly scraped the painting up.
Hyatt continued painting with the molten sugar, each more complicated than the last.
The first one started with a lump of sugar directly onto the slab, which naturally formed into a round shape. Before it completely cooled, he inserted a stick into the Lump, and just Like that it was done.
He then continued to more complex animals. A mouse, a phoenix, and his grand finale, a dragon, which was met with a huge round of applause and cheers from the audience.
"Now, Let the game begin." Leif called through a megaphone. Following the interview, everyone in the live streaming room was especially looking forward to seeing Maria‘s painting.
Would she really be able to make a sugar painting like she said she could? And even with a style? They waited in anticipation.
