Chapter: 796
It had gone from over 7 million down to 6.8 million.
How could the number decrease by so much, in just a matter of minutes? It didn't seem too serious, when he considered just how many people were still watching. But Leif was well aware that this was certainly not a good sign...
Meanwhile, at the Hughes Group. Boden returned to Sheffield, where he was the business representative for the Smith family.
Since he'd been so busy with work lately, he'd only just heard about Maria and the new show Taste of Childhood.
He went to Patricia's office immediately.
Coincidentally, Vivian and Bill were also there.
“Hello, Cousin Boden!" Vivian greeted him sweetly.
Despite still being upset about the news, Boden responded patiently.
“Hello, Ms. Hughes, Mr. Jenkins, Vivian."
He took out his phone and searched for news about Maria before showing his screen to them.
“Do you know what happened?" he asked. "Why is there negative news about Maria? She's being cyberbullied!"
Since his last trip to Broome, Boden had started to see Maria differently.
Now that he knew she was being cyberbullied, he was naturally very worried.
After he'd finished speaking, he noticed the strange expressions on their faces. It was as though they were trying not to laugh. It wasn't amerry type of Laughter, however; it was malicious.
Boden's confusion grew.
“Mr. Hughes," he continued, “do you know anyone with experience in the entertainment circle? Can you ask them for help in helping Maria out? Don't worry about the money. The Smith family will pay for it."
Boden had come to Sheffield alone to deal with business. He couldn't deal with multiple trivial things in person; he needed Patricia's help.
Once Boden had finished speaking, Vivian became visibly unhappy. Why? How could the Smith family pay to clean up Maria's mess?
But she couldn't admit that the reason Maria was being cyberbullied - her leaked student file - had been secretly sent to Jaqueline by Patricia.
“Cousin Boden, it's all because of Maria's lie. She lied to the production team and fans. Now she's being Laughed at by the public, and she deserves it. Why would the Smith family cover up for her?"
Vivian suddenly realized that her words sounded too harsh, and that she was being too obvious about her hostility towards Maria.
Changing her approach slightly, she spoke with a softer tone. "This is a good lesson for Maria. Hopefully she'll learn from this and become a more mature person. If you help her with this, you'll be spoiling her. What if she makes the same mistakes again?"
Boden looked thoughtful. "Hmm..." he murmured.
He felt that what Vivian was saying was reasonable and, though some of her points were inappropriate, he really couldn't refute.
