Chapter: 889
Her tone and attitude could easily make one take her for an arrogant person even though she was only stating the truth
Well, at least, that was how Penney felt after her dry introduction.
Maria's attitude was a complete contrast to the bright smile on Jay's face.
Jay had a smile that thousands of females could die for. Even Penney wasn't immune to that charming smile of his. Being with him every day for years as his agent didn't help either.
This smile however, had something else to it. He looked sincerely happy. But why? Why was he so happy?
Jay didn't waste any time and quickly walked up to Maria and Merlin to explain his reason for coming over.
“I'm a two-star member of the National Writers’ Association. I heard that Mr. Willows wouldn't be able to make it to Sheffield and had appointed a five-star student of his to replace him as the main judge of this event.
When I heard it was you, I decided come and spend some time with you since I had nothing else to do today."
"Okay." Maria nodded in the same indifferent manner.
Her nonchalant attitude towards Jay unnerved Penney greatly. So much that she couldn't stay silent.
“What do you mean by you had nothing to do? Jay, you have a full schedule programmed for the next three years. You cancelled the endorsement of an international Luxury brand just to come here. Maybe I should remind you of that before you say you had nothing to do.”
As Penney spoke her mind, she glanced at Maria stealthily to see her reaction.
However, she got nothing out of her. She came to realize that there was something different about Maria.
As Jay's agent and someone specialised in the entertainment circle, she didn't Know much about the importance of this Writers' Association, but she did know what it meant to be a five-star writer.
Maria hadn't made it in the entertainment circle but she had definitely found her way in the literary world.
Penney was shocked and impressed, but she had other things to do that did not involve her paying any attention to Maria.
She was most concerned about Jay's career. She was his agent after all. In recent years though, there weren't many decent plays and scripts they could choose from.
It was really difficult to find a good script, and Penney didn't want Jay to act in some stupid movies and TV shows.
He had indeed been pretty busy this year with work, but he had only played one role in “Legend of Anne."
“Legend of Anne" was a script written by the true master, Mia. So, yes, it was a very good script.
However, one work wasn't enough for Penney, even if it was a good script. She wanted something more.
Granted, Jay's schedule was tight, but the jobs were mostly advertisements, reality shows and so on. Nothing really concrete.
As a professional agent who was always in pursuit of bigger and better projects, Penney still hoped her client to achieve more. She didn't want Jay to simply make money by taking advantage of his current popularity and doing lots of commercials. He had to stick to acting.
Deep in thought, Penney looked at him as he fawned over Maria. If she couldn't find a good script for him to start filming this year, then he would have nothing new to show his audience next year. And if that happened, then his popularity would definitely drop. She couldn't let that happen. But she couldn't let him play a stupid character in a stupid play either.
