Chapter: 965
Was she really fine?
Anthony could tell that she was about to cry.
He offered her a gentle smile in an attempt to comfort her. "Come on. Let's go eat."
But the mention of their plans to eat out only upset her more. Was she still expected to pay in this situation?
No, no!
If she could turn back time, she would have returned to half an hour ago and kept her mouth shut. She wouldn't have promised to treated Anthony to lunch if she knew better!
“What? Didn't you say you wanted to treat me to lunch?" Anthony prodded, his smile still in place.
His eyes were filled with tenderness, and his voice was kind and pleasant to the ears.
Even so, every word he spoke was like a dagger stabbing into Maria's heart.
"Well... You see..." Maria mumbled and kept her head down.
She had never been one to break a promise.
But she was painfully aware that she couldn't afford a decent meal as she promised.
This was downtown, so restaurants and diners were littered all over the streets.
Instead of driving somewhere else, the pair walked out of the parking lot.
Anthony led the way, and Maria trailed behind him with her head still lowered,
“Let's head over there and grab a bite," Anthony suggested out of nowhere.
Maria Looked up to find him pointing in a certain direction. Less than a hundred feet away stood a French restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, and a Turkey restaurant.
How much did foie gras cost again?
What was the price for a serving of Kobe beef?
A roasted whole Lamb... No, even just a roasted lamb leg...
Before she could say anything, Maria was led away by Anthony. The next thing she knew, they were already standing at the door of a restaurant.
Maria's gaze was fixed on the floor the entire time, but she heard Anthony clearly.
“Two bowls of beef noodles. Thank you."
Beef noodles?
