Chapter: 984
“Maria is going to be the heroine for the movie adaptation of Mia's worl
Vivian all but screamed as soon as she entered the villa. She strode into the Living room and complained to her father.
Bill and Patricia were entangled on the sofa in a rather vulgar manner when Vivian showed up. Needless to say, they were caught off-guard.
“Ahem! "
Bill cleared his throat as he detached himself from Patricia, while the woman quickly put down her skirt and tidied up her blouse.
"You should have called and told us that you were coming," Bill admonished.
He was about to scold his daughter when her words finally sank in.
“What did you just say? Maria is playing the heroine of some movie? How is that possible?"
Bill still regarded Maria as a country bumpkin. They might have adopted her, but he never saw her as his daughter.
“Dad, what do we do? How do we fix this?" Vivian asked anxiously. First, she had wanted to make a name for herself as a writer, but it turned out that Maria was already a five-star writer by the Writers’ Association's standards.
Vivian had suffered a loss there, but she took comfort in the fact that the Writers' Association was not as renowned as, really, anything in show business.
But this time, she had lost to Maria again. Even if she was the heroine of Song of Phoenix, the movie was sure to be overshadowed by all the buzz around Female Military Counsellor.
Vivian could not stand the thought that Maria had also defeated her in this aspect.
She had been in the industry for over two years!
Back when she had already got a role in an online drama, Maria was still a bumpkin raising chickens in some backwater village!
“Well. I'm afraid there's nothing I can do."
Bill had been living happily in recent days.
He didn't need to tiptoe around Julie like he used to do, and Patricia was good at giving him the comfort that he craved.
He was in his wild romance phase, and he was happy to indulge himself. So much so that his usual cunning had dulled, and he no longer had the patience or the energy to ponder matters carefully, Let alone devise a solution to a problem.
"Dad! Can't you play the father card to force Maria to quit the entertainment industry?"
Bent on getting her way, Vivian even started to talk nonsense.
“Well... I don't think that would work..."
Bill replied hesitantly. He didn't mind lording over Maria because he didn't take her seriously at all, but he didn't dare to do anything to provoke Anthony.
With what Little sensitivity he had as a businessman, Bill knew that Anthony was very fond of Maria.
