Chapter: 983
“There's nothing wrong with watching TV," Anthony pointed out. "But doing so while lying down is harmful to the eyes."
“I'm sorry," Maria murmured. She lowered her head and glanced at Anthony like a wounded dog.
Betsey stifled a gasp.
So Maria was simply enjoying watching TV, after all! Why did she even make up that excuse about learning how to act just now?
Just like that, Betsey's impression of Maria's enigmatic persona crumbled.
Meanwhile, Vivian was still waiting in great anticipation to hear that Anthony and Maria had broken up.
She had been waiting for a long time, but no such news had been published anywhere. Instead, another more shocking news was reported, something that she could never accept.
Preparation work for the first movie of Female Military Counsellor had been completed.
Everything had been sorted out, from the financing to the script, and even the casting.
The movie was slated to officially start soon.
Vivian was furious.
Female Military Counsellor and Song of Phoenix were once involved in a plagiarism issue, and the Hughes Group had taken great pains to change the public's opinion. They had worked hard to establish the movie version of Song of Phoenix as a viable project.
Once the news was released, Vivian intended to hype it up using her connections at the Writers' Association. She was also planning to tell the public that she was the author of the novel!
When she had first hatched this plan, there had been no talk of a film adaptation for Female Military Counsellor.
It had made Vivian feel Like she had gotten ahead. Now, she felt Like she had been tricked!
Worst of all was that Maria had been assigned the role of the movie's heroine. This was something Vivian could not accept.
Maria, of all people? Why did it have to be her? Vivian was turning green with envy.
She instantly presumed that Maria had only bagged the role because of the Wilson family's influence.
Vivian had refused to marry Anthony because of his disability, and then Maria swooped in to take her place and proceeded to reap the benefits that the Wilson family had to offer.
Who could have imagined the extent of the power that Anthony's family wielded?
If Vivian had known it in the beginning, she wouldn't have let go of Anthony. Maybe then, she wouldn't have to copy Mia's work and be accused of plagiarism. She might have even become the heroine of the movie Female Military Counsellor!
“I was this close to success, but Maria got in the way!"
Vivian was so enraged that she was practically seeing red.
She wasted no time and went to her father and Aunt Patricia for help. The two were now living together in the new villa Patricia had bought.
