Chapter: 1895
Sabrina was taken by surprise when she learned that Bettie had acted so swiftly. In the short span of two days, while Sabrina was away on a business trip, Bettie had signed the contracts with Lance and had Lance meet her parents.
Sabrina quickly glanced over the contracts. "The contracts seem beneficial for you. However, don't you think it's rather quick to be planning a wedding for next month?"
Bettie, enjoying her cake, replied, "I do think it's fast... But with my half-brother in his second year of college, I'm pressed for time, leaving me with little choice... "
"And after the wedding, where do you plan to live? Have you two discussed this?" Sabrina asked.
“We've decided to purchase a new villa. We're actually going to look at a place tomorrow. Would you like to join us, Sabrina? I could really use your advice."
Sabrina gave a half-smile. "If I find the time, I might. The magazine's been on my case to get my photos done as quickly as possible."
"Alright then." Leaning in, Bettie shared her excitement, "Lance has already scoped out three neighborhoods, including Silver Garden, Lanting Pavilion, and River Mansion."
“Is River Mansion the fancy place by the river?"
"Yes, it is," Bettie confirmed with a nod.
“Wow, Lance must be quite wealthy to afford that. It must be a hefty sum." Sabrina gave Bettie a knowing look. “Does that impress you?"
“I'm fond of the house," Bettie admitted. “It's a lavish villa valued at one hundred million, but it's just too spacious. It's just the two of us in such a large villa. Given we're a sham couple and won't have kids, it doesn't seem justifiable."
"Are you already thinking of saving Lance's money?" Sabrina joked.
"How could you tease me like that, Sabrina?" Bettie replied with a playful smile and began to tickle Sabrina.
"No, no, no. My mistake. I was wrong," Sabrina managed to say, trying to escape the tickling.
After playfully pinching Sabrina a couple more times, Bettie released Sabrina's arm and let out a sigh. “I sometimes wish I were Tyrone."
"Get lost!" Sabrina said, her cheeks turning red.
Sabrina then moved to the edge of the couch and asked earnestly, “But really, what's your take on Lance? I get the feeling he truly wants to reconcile with you and he's quite indulgent toward you."
Everyone could see that Lance's motive for helping Bettie acquire control of the company was linked to his desire to marry Bettie and spend every day and night together with her.
It would be years before Lance could assert full control over the company after joining. Lance and Bettie were going to share a home for the foreseeable future, giving Lance the chance to win Bettie's heart. Despite understanding his intentions, Bettie still gave her consent.
After a moment of silence, Bettie let out a sigh. "I'm at a loss. I resent him for walking away without an explanation. I'm also upset because he re-entered my life just when I was beginning to move on..."
