Chapter: 1914
"Sure."

“Lance still hasn't figured it out..." Holding the phone, Keilani was slightly relieved. "But what if the police caught those kidnappers?"

She felt a bit scared.

Alice tried to soothe her worries. "So what? No police dare to arrest you when your uncle intervenes for your sake."

“But that's not what's bothering me," Keilani responded. She was confident that the police couldn't do anything to her. “I'm worried that my uncle and Lance will get mad and make me leave Mathias... If I leave, I won't be able to return anytime soon. What's the point in that?"

"I don't see why they would. After all, nothing happened to Bettie. Just tell them you simply wanted to give Bettie a scare," Alice suggested. She was frustrated Bettie got away uninjured.

Keilani let out a frustrated sigh. "This is so frustrating. If I had known those three were so incompetent, I wouldn't have bothered with them."

Just then, they heard noises from outside.

Looking through the glass wall, they saw a black car pull up. Lance got out and entered with a calm stride.

Keilani's face went white with nerves, her hands clenched into fists.

“Try to stay calm," Alice whispered.

Lance entered the living room, his gaze landing on the two of them.

“Lance, you're back?" Keilani attempted to greet him as if everything was normal.

Lance remained silent, his expression dark, as he slowly approached Keilani.

Feeling guilty under his stare, Keilani's heart raced, and she felt chills all over. She couldn't help but stand up and retreat a few steps in fear. “Lance, what's the matter? Why... Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Clap!" The sound of a loud slap filled the living room.

Keilani covered her face, her mind going blank for a moment. She looked up at Lance, disbelief in her eyes. "Did you just hit me?"

Alice was also taken aback. It looked like Lance knew what Keilani had done.

Lance stared at Keilani with a cold gaze, each word deliberate. "The things you've done could land you in jail for years. A slap is the least of your worries."

Remembering the incident at the flour factory, Lance's expression grew even colder. He shuddered to think what could have happened to Bettie if Sabrina hadn't intervened and he hadn't arrived in time.
