Chapter: 1920
The following morning, when Lance visited Keilani, he saw how worn-out she looked, with dark circles under her eyes, a dull appearance, and her hair all over the place.
As soon as the door opened, Keilani's eyes sparkled with hope. She straightened up and quickly said, "Lance, you're here. I admit I messed up. Please, ask our uncle not to send me to jail, will you?"
Just one night here was too much for Keilani. If she had to stay any longer, she'd lose her mind!
Lance calmly took a seat across from her, gazed at her seriously, and asked, "So, what did you do wrong?"
Keilani hesitated, her face tensing. She nervously bit her lip and finally said, “Lance... You are my brother. Why do you always take others' sides?"
Still under the assumption that Lance had a crush on Sabrina, Keilani pondered the depth of his love for Sabrina. Did he like Sabrina so much that he even willingly defended Sabrina's friend?
Lance looked at her with disappointment. "If I were taking sides with others, I wouldn't be here. I could've just let the police handle this case and the courts lock you up for years. Haven't you realized your mistakes yet, Keilani?"
Keilani looked down and admitted, “I shouldn't have had someone kidnap Bettie."
"And what else?"
"I shouldn't have caused Jennie's incident."
"And then?"
"And then what?"
“Why did you do that?"
"I..." Keilani looked down. "I just wanted to be with Tyrone, for Jennie to live with both of us."
At this, Lance burst out laughing. "Seriously? You planned Jennie's incident and now claim it was for her benefit?"
Keilani, feeling a mixture of anger and shame, retorted, “Fine! It was for myself. I'm into Tyrone. I just like him. What's wrong with that?"
“If you think you've done nothing wrong, then stay here. You can leave once you're ready to admit your mistake," Lance replied, his voice icy as he rose to his feet.
“Wait, Lance! I realize I was wrong. I had no right to chase after Tyrone, especially when he wasn't interested in me. I shouldn't have pointed fingers at Sabrina. Listen, I truly know my mistakes,"
Keilani begged.
“So, what was your actual plan?" Lance sat down again.
