Chapter: 1927
“Then let's visit my parents tomorrow, discuss it with them, and start preparing." For the sake of the villa's grandeur, Bettie would agree to marry Lance the next day, let alone next month. Especially since their marriage was just a facade.

The villa's spaciousness allowed for separate living spaces, ensuring minimal disturbance between them. Bettie could easily pretend he didn't exist.

"Okay."

The villa featured small garden areas on all three sides, consisting of simple lawns.

As they stood in the southern garden, a vast river unfolded before them, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The gentle misty breeze from the water welcomed them. It carried a refreshing coolness that eased the summer warmth, instilling a sense of calm and peace. The natural symphony of sounds enveloped the air, creating a serene and revitalizing atmosphere, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

Bettie's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she gestured toward a secluded spot in the garden, envisioning her plans. “I want to plant roses in that corner and create a grape arbor. Picture us next summer, relaxing here, soaking in the gentle breeze, surrounded by blooming flowers and the serene river view, savoring a barbecue together. It'll be awesome!"

“That sounds nice," Lance responded with a smile. "You can do whatever makes you happy.”

Bettie glanced at him, returning the smile. “Let's go inside and take a look."

When Bettie returned home, she eagerly relayed the exciting news to Sabrina, who hung on every word.

Taken aback by Lance's generosity, Sabrina remarked in an impressed tone, "It appears he's made quite a success of himself over the years."

Despite the uncertainty of Lance's future actions regarding the villa, his current demeanor was undeniably positive.

“He's very capable," Bettie said, feeling a sudden swell of pride.

"In high school, he was our class monitor, excelled academically, and managed the class well. Even the troublemakers respected him."

Otherwise, why would she fall in love with him and take the initiative to pursue him?

"Oh, I see," Sabrina said, raising her eyebrows.

Bettie met Sabrina's curious gaze and noticed her intrigued expression. Bettie's cheeks flushed slightly as she replied, "I was just mentioning it casually."

Sabrina grinned and teased, "Was the villa all it took for Lance to win you over, Bettie"

“Who wouldn't be swayed by such a generous offer? It's not a small amount of money we're talking about here. It's a villa, after all!"

Bettie responded with confidence.
