Chapter: 1987
“Mr. Wilson, please calm down and consider the following questions. Firstly, do you believe Keilani has the ability to look after Jennie properly? Secondly, even if you care for Jennie, given your age, busy life, and your wife's health, how much time can you really spend with her? Lastly, you might try to be there for Jennie by delegating responsibilities to Lance, but with the age gap, can you offer her the same affection her parents would? Mr. Wilson, after thinking it over, I'm sure you'll realize what's truly best for Jennie."
Kaleb grew impatient. "There's no point in discussing this further. Let Jennie decides after she stays in Philade for a while. If she wants to return afterward, I'll sent her back."
"Jennie is still young and unfamiliar with Philade. She will have a hard time with the adjustment," Tyrone pointed out.
"I'll be there with her. I'll ensure she's taken care of." Kaleb lifted his chin.
Tyrone scoffed. "Mr. Wilson, you're her grandfather by blood, but beyond that, you're practically a stranger to her."
“If you're doubtful of my intentions, just tag along," Kaleb suggested, eyes narrowing. "Are you scared I'll coerce Jennie into staying in Philade? Or are you worried that once she leaves with me, she might not want to return?"
“Mr. Wilson, your attempts to bait me won't succeed." Tyrone was quite composed.
"Then let's ask Jennie what she wants! If she chooses to go with me, what grounds do you have to interfere in our grandparent-grandchild relationship?" Kaleb pressed.
“I am her legal guardian."
"That's precisely why I'm here discussing this with you. If not, I might have taken Jennie with me already."
Their conversation was a series of sharp exchanges.
At Kaleb's insistence, Tyrone called the kindergarten teacher.
Then, Tyrone and Kaleb waited, sitting across from each other, sipping coffee.
After twenty minutes, the kindergarten session ended.
"Head outside for some playtime, everyone," the teacher instructed.
"Jennie, could you stay a moment?"
Once the classroom had emptied, Jennie raised her eyes and inquired, “Madam, why did you ask me to stay?"
With a gentle smile, the teacher responded, "Your dad just called and asked you to ring him back once class is over."
Jennie's heart raced at the news. Her grandfather had just told her he was at the Blakely Group's office, trying to convince her dad to let her visit Philade. And now this unexpected call from her dad.
Had he agreed? Was she really going to stay in Philade with her grandfather? Well, that was fine. Just yesterday, Sabrina had mentioned she'd be heading to Philade for work soon.
