Chapter: 2021
As they drove to the hospital, Rita expressed her fears, “Sabrina miscarried once before. It wasn't easy for her to conceive again. Losing the baby would devastate her."
Her seeming concern for Sabrina was palpable.
Horace, too, was understandably anxious, the unborn child in Sabrina's belly being his future grandchild. He comforted Rita, patting her hand, “Everything will be alright."
Upon reaching the hospital, Rita made a beeline for Sabrina's ward.
Horace didn't think much, assuming it must have been Sabrina who told Rita about the precise ward number. Their relationship seemed to be on the mend. After all, they were mother and daughter. How could there be any lasting animosity between them?
Horace hoped Tyrone, his biological son, wouldn't be as resistant on the day they openly reunited if granted Sabrina's support.
By chance, when Horace and Rita arrived, they found the police discussing the investigation results with Sabrina and Brenton in the hospital room.
Relieved to see Sabrina was unharmed, they lingered at the door, listening intently to the conversation.
Sabrina caught a glimpse of them and then diverted her gaze.
"We discovered a significant amount of money in the minibus driver's account. The funds were transferred by someone named Rose. After regaining consciousness, the driver confessed that Rose had coerced him into acting. Miss, are you acquainted with Rose?"
Sabrina was shocked to learn the car incident had been orchestrated.
Had it not been for Brenton's swift actions, she might have been more severely injured. But...
Sabrina remarked, "Rose? I don't recognize that name. Was she acting on someone else's orders?"
Rita tightly clutched Horace's arm, seemingly holding back her frustration.
Horace's expression grew grim as he listened.
The police noted down Sabrina's statement. “We've arrested her. An immediate interrogation will be conducted soon. We'll keep you updated on any developments."
"Alright. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The officers walked past Rita and Horace, exiting the hospital room.
Rita jabbed Horace with her elbow, her voice tinged with irritation.
