Chapter: 2024
“Humph, and why not? If you instruct Rose to claim she acted independently, you will disassociate from the situation while eliminating Sabrina."

Kira was at a loss for words.

“I'm withdrawing my promise. Don't contact me again!" With that, Horace exited the room.

"Horace!" Kira's face fell as she chased after him. "Horace, please, let me explain..."

Horace didn't slow down and marched away resolutely.

"Horace! Ah!" In her high heels, Kira twisted her ankle and collapsed suddenly. She looked up at the retreating figure, hoping he would turn back and assist her.

However, Horace only hesitated briefly before continuing, eventually disappearing from her view.

Alone in the corridor, Kira's thoughts scattered. She clenched the fabric of her dress, anger surging within her.

"Ah!" Kira slammed her fist against the wall in frustration! She had striven to reunite with Horace, but everything fell apart before it could even begin. Damn Rose! Why did Rose orchestrate a car incident against Sabrina?

Leaning against the wall for support, Kira limped toward the police station, bearing the pain in her ankle.

On her way, she pieced together the details of the car incident and Sabrina's condition.

In the interrogation room, Kira confronted Rose.

Kira couldn't help but ask, "Didn't I tell you to... Why did you arrange for someone to hit Sabrina?"

Rose avoided making eye contact and replied, “Madam, I wasn't thinking clearly. Please leave. I'll take the blame."

Rose had been Kira's loyal assistant for years, always reliable and correct. But now, claiming Rose was out of her mind? Something didn't add up.

Kira's gaze sharpened as she scrutinized the subtle changes in Rose's expression. She detected a flicker of guilt in Rose's eyes.

“Rose, tell me the truth, who put you up to this?" Kira asked. “Was it Rita?"

Kira quickly connected the dots. Rose must have been bribed to drive a wedge between her and Horace.

Rose appeared briefly unsettled. She averted her eyes, unable to meet Kira's stare. "No, nobody instructed me. I just really don't like Sabrina!"

Kira felt more certain of her suspicions and scoffed. “Let me guess, how did she sway you? Was it through threats or bribes? Did she coerce you using your family?"

Rose had been Kira's right hand in dirty work dealings, ever a trusted ally. Kira had always compensated Rose well, so coercion must have been involved. Otherwise, why would Rose jeopardize her own life with such actions?

Bowing her head, Rose said, "Madam, please. Just leave!"

Kira laughed coldly and produced a photograph.

Startled, Rose said, "Please, don't harm him!"

The man in the photograph was Rose's boyfriend of several years.

"You betrayed me. Shouldn't I seek revenge? Now, I'll give you a chance. Tell me who put you up to this, and I'll spare him!"

Rose shut her eyes, torn. “It's..." She faltered, struggling to speak.

“It's... Sabrina."

Kira was shocked. "What did you say? Sabrina?"

"Yes, it's Sabrina!" Rose confirmed, head bowed. "She told me that this was the only way Tyrone would turn against you and Horace would despise you. That way, Rita would remain Horace's wife forever. She's the victim, so no one will suspect her."

Kira's expression turned sinister at this revelation. Damn Sabrina!

She had initially suspected Rita, but it made no sense. Rita should be unaware of her relationship with Horace when they last met at the restaurant. How could Rita have orchestrated such a scheme? It turned out to be Sabrina all along! Now everything clicked. No wonder Sabrina had only minor injuries in what was supposed to be a lethal incident. Tyrone's estrangement from her was Sabrina's doing!

Kira's face grew dark. If she could eliminate Sabrina, she could reconcile with Horace, and Tyrone would no longer shun her. Then, the three of them could finally be a happy family.

Observing Kira's menacing look, Rose lowered her gaze, her eyes gleaming ominously.
