Chapter: 2029
“How could I not be present if your uncle is getting married?" Kaleb replied, choosing not to expose Lance's identity yet.
Jennie paused to think it over and then nodded in agreement. "That's true." After all, who wouldn't invite their own father to their wedding?
Kaleb and Jennie held the phone, watching the live broadcast of Bettie and Lance's wedding together.
After taking her medicine, Zandra walked downstairs slowly. Seeing them, she asked curiously, “What are you two looking at? You both look so focused."
“Nothing... Jennie looked up, cutting off Kaleb, “It's Sabrina's good friend's wedding. Zandra, check it out. The groom looks like my uncle..."
Hearing this, Zandra moved closer and saw the bride and groom on the screen. She was shocked. Wasn't the groom Lance? She didn't even know about her own son's wedding.
Zandra shot Kaleb a questioning look.
Kaleb gave her a reassuring look in return.
Zandra pressed her lips together and joined them.
At the ceremony, Corless handed Bettie's hand to Lance, who was down on one knee. After the couple hugged, they walked hand in hand along the flower path, heading to the main stage to exchange rings under the emcee's guidance.
"Jennie, could you fetch me a glass of water?" Kaleb suddenly asked.
Jennie rose and headed to the kitchen.
Zandra looked at Kaleb suspiciously.
At the wedding, after exchanging rings, Bettie and Lance started their vows.
“Lance Carter, do you promise to marry Bettie Ramirez, love her always, respect and protect her, in sickness and health, rich or poor, till death do you part?"
“I do!" Lance replied solemnly.
“Bettie Ramirez, do you promise to marry Lance Carter, love him always, respect and protect him, in sickness and health, rich or poor, till death do you part?"
"Yes, I do." As Lance gazed at her intensely, Bettie looked away.
Even though she knew this wedding was just for show, her heart raced.
“Congratulations! I now pronounce you ‘husband and wife’. Mr. Carter, would you like to say something?"
