Chapter: 1032
Not only that, Claudia was truly competent. In their eyes, she was flawless, and nobody was worthy of her.
From an outsider's perspective, Claudia seemed to be climbing the social ladder by tying the knot with Bennett, given his rich heritage.
But to her uncle and aunt-in-law, his wealth didn't matter much.
Moreover, Claudia's uncle had served the government for a long time and had a considerable influence.
Picturing what was ahead, Claudia felt a tad anxious for Bennett.
Back then, her uncle had never Liked Anthony.
Jace, seeing her distressed look, grinned and reassured, “Relax. Your uncle won't find any issues with Bennett.”
Noticing Jace's playful tone, Claudia flushed a bit.
“Dad, why aren't you sipping your soup?"
With Jace's hand holding the bowl, Claudia gave him a spoonful and spent some time chatting.
Around noon, Jace requested Claudia to return home.
That morning, Claudia had asked Marcia not to make lunch, so after she left the hospital, she grabbed a quick bite at a diner before heading home.
Claudia hadn't slept soundly the previous night, so she caught an extra hour of rest.
When she woke up, she spotted a text from Jace, advising her to skip the afternoon visit. He was okay and didn't want to hinder her practices.
Reflecting on the call that overwhelmed Jace with rage the night before, Claudia realized that he had purposely changed the topic when she asked him about it in the hospital.
She recognized he was intentionally hiding the truth from her and chose not to press the matter.
After soaking in the balcony views for a bit, Claudia went to the piano room for some piano practices.
That evening, Bennett returned and inquired about Jace's condition.
Claudia relayed the doctor's feedback. She had discussed with the attending doctor that morning, and the decision was for Jace to recuperate a bit first before going through the surgery.
The surgery wouldn't happen this week, with the soonest slot being the following week.
"... Oh, by the way, my dad mentioned my uncle and aunt-in-law are relocating back to Linmarsh," Claudia added.
Bennett shot her a glance, replying, "That's great news."
“Yes, they've always showered me with so much love!"
She hesitated, then added, “In fact, maybe too much love. When they're back, my uncle might evaluate you a bit."
