Chapter: 1144
An instinct made Claudia glance back, catching the elevator's still-open door. The woman, now amidst other passengers, looked at them too.
Seeing Claudia turn around, the lady gave a slight nod.
That face seemed somewhat familiar to Claudia.
As the elevator doors gradually closed, the woman's face was obscured, leaving only the gleaming door in view.
She suddenly became a little curious about the woman.
The mysterious woman lingering in her mind, Claudia looked at Bennett and asked, "Did you see the woman just now?"
"Which one?"
Claudia faltered, abashed that he probably didn't notice the other woman at all.
Observing her distractedness, Bennett frowned and asked, “What's wrong?"
“When we walked out of the elevator just now, a woman passed by. She seemed familiar somehow."
"Is she someone you know?"
Claudia shook her head and replied, "I looked again to be sure, and I don't think I'm acquainted with her. But it's strange. The moment I first saw her, I felt like I knew her."
Bennett's eyebrows raised in apprehension, and he said, "Maybe you've met before."
Claudia pressed her lips together and murmured, "Well... Let's just say she gave me a very strange feeling.
Bennett gently squeezed her hand and said, “If you're that curious, perhaps I should look into her for you."
"No, no need. We'd better not make a habit of investigating others for small reasons. Do you know why I won't Let my father leave the hospital tomorrow?" Claudia turned to look at him inquisitively.
"Isn't it because you're worried he hasn't recovered enough yet? And once we get home, that person will look for him, right?"
With an embarrassed smile, Claudia explained, “Actually, I didn't think that hard about it. I have work tomorrow, so I can't pick him up from the hospital. That's why I'm Letting him be discharged from the hospital the day after tomorrow."
After admitting that, she winked playfully and mused, “Am I bad?"
Bennett chuckled.
“Are you bad just for doing that?"
When he laughed, his eyes twinkled merrily, causing her heart to flutter.
She could feel the heat rush to her cheeks, and she quickly Looked away, exclaiming, “Of course. Don't tell my dad about it!"
“Don't worry. I won't tell him. But Claudia, shouldn't I get some compensation? Otherwise, I might not be able to keep it a secret.”
