Chapter: 1220
The fact that Xavier had defended the woman even before they were together spoke volumes about his genuine affection for her.
If they were to become a couple, would it cause discord in their family?
Xavier had earned a reputation as a playboy, engaging in numerous casual relationships with different women. If the woman he was interested in had been just another casual fling, he wouldn't have paid much attention to what his sister said.
The more Hannah thought about it, the less appealing this woman became. "I need to meet her," she said, determined to form her own judgment.
Claudia called the waiter over and asked for the bill. However, the waiter surprised her. "Miss, someone has already paid your bill."
Her brows knitted in confusion. "What? Who?" she asked, glancing around.
Lucille commented, "Who would be so generous?"
Claudia had no clue.
Claudia frowned and pursed her lips. "Did the person who covered the bill for me leave any messages?"
The waiter seemed puzzled by her question and unconsciously scratched his head. "No. But the gentleman did say that you're his friend, and he'd take care of the bill for you."
Lucille's ears perked up. “A gentleman?" she inquired, her curiosity piqued.
The waiter nodded. "Yes, a very handsome one."
Lucille had considered teasing Claudia about whether it was her husband or someone else. But she changed her mind when she saw her friend's expression. "Thank you. You can go ahead with your work."
After the waiter left, Lucille asked Claudia, "Do you know who paid the bill?"
Claudia bit her lower lip, her face filled with frustration. She nodded. “I could probably guess who it was."
The previous evening, Xavier had covered her dinner bill when she dined with Aurora, and now, after just one day, he did it again with Lucille.
Claudia was annoyed and offended by Xavier's behavior, and she considered confronting him about the matter.
However, she decided to wait for a more appropriate time. After all, it wasn't often that she got to catch up with Lucille, and she didn't want to waste their time together on something so menial.
Lucille noticed that Claudia didn't want to talk about it, so she tactfully changed the subject, aiming to pep her up. “Hey, how about we go shopping?"
After regaining her composure, Claudia brightened up a bit and smiled.
“Sure, I know a fantastic dessert place. Aurora discovered it, and the ambiance is excellent."
"Great, let's go!"
As soon as they left, a man at another table burst into hysterical laughter. “Liam, your ex-wife said you were impotent!"
The man's laughter drew the attention of many curious onlookers, who turned to see what the commotion was about.
