Chapter: 250
“You're welcome."
Bennett cast a glance at her and closed his eyes for a rest.
Gentle words like these were her undoing. His heart melted like ice on fire with the realization.
Staring at his face, she reasoned that he was a good man even though he could be so hostile sometimes.
For the sake of Marcia's job, Claudia had to ask brazenly, "Ermm. Sorry to disturb you, but can I ask you something?"
“What ?"
Bennett opened his eyes and stared at her motionlessly.
"I was just thinking of how I know nothing about your likes and dislikes. Since we are doing this marriage thing, how about we get to know each other better so..."
Claudia's words trailed off when she saw a change in his expression. Her eyes widened in wonder.
Bennett's taut eyebrows suddenly relaxed and the corners of his mouth curved up into a smile, making him Look extra charming.
Her heart skipped a beat and her face burned hot for the umpteenth time today.
She couldn't take her eyes off him.
For a moment, she forgot where she was and even the question that had been on the tip of her tongue.
The expression on Bennett's face seemed ambiguous. Just when Claudia thought he was going to brush off her question, he said slowly, "You are right. I'll ask my secretary to put together some info about me and give it to you. Don’t worry.”
Couldn't Bennett just tell her now?
What was the need of doing things so meticulously formal?
Claudia swallowed those words, fearing his hostile reaction.
“Well... That works too."
Claudia nodded with a smile. Glancing at the remaining fruits on the platter, she hesitated for a while before picking it up. She then said over her shoulder, “Excuse me. If you need me, I'd be in the piano room. Practicing.”
She was a Little full now.
Bennett glanced at the platter in her hand and just nodded.
Fearing that he would hold her back, Claudia hurried up the stairs and went to the second floor while holding the banister.
She couldn't bear to be near him now. He seemed too enthusiastic. Still seated on the sofa, Bennett stared at her receding figure. He didn't tear off his gaze until his phone rang.
His bright eyes turned icy cold the second he saw the caller ID.
