Chapter: 322
She was screwed this time!
There was a harder bang on the door before Claudia snapped out of it and rushed to answer the door.
Sure enough, there was a police patrol car with blinking lights parked in the compound. In front of the door stood a couple of policemen.
There was also a policewoman.
"You are Claudia, aren't you? Your friend just placed a distress call to us saying that a thief is trying to gain entry into your house. Is that true? If so, where is he or she?"
The cop who got right to questioning Claudia Looked at her up and down. After running her hand through her hair, Claudia clasped her hands.
“I'm sorry. It was a false alarm. There's no thief here. My husband arrived late from a business trip. I was on the phone with my friend when I saw the doorknob rattle. I was just a little scared. Before I could tell her that it wasn't a thief, she already hang up."
Judging by her appearance, the cop questioning her felt that she was indeed fine. But to be extra sure, he asked again, “Are you sure there's no thief in your home? Is everything all right? May I see your husband?"
Claudia immediately held the door tightly and shook her head. "I'm sorry you can't. My husband is currently taking a shower, so he can't come out to see you."
“That shouldn't be a problem. We don't mind waiting until he gets out of the shower.”
Claudia bit her lower lip hard. After much hesitation, she invited the cops into her new home. Instead of taking her invitation, they stood still and told her to urge her husband to get out early.
Claudia nodded and spun around. Before she could take a step, the leading cop uttered, "Ma'am, if there's no sign of you or your husband in the next five minutes, we'll have to go in.
His tone was domineering. He spoke as if he would kill for a chance to deal with the so-called thief that was in the house. Was the police short of crimes lately? Why was he overzealous?
Claudia's scalp tingled. She had never been in such an embarrassing situation.
“Noted, officer."
With that, she ran into the villa. She took the stairs in twos and made a beeline for the master bedroom on the second floor.
Her guess was right. Bennett was taking a shower.
The door of his bedroom was ajar. After hesitating for a while, Claudia plucked up the courage to push it and walk in.
In contrast, the bathroom door was shut. Even if it wasn't, she didn't have the balls to open it.
She paced in the room as the cop's statement replayed in her head. At last, she walked to the bathroom door and knocked.
The pattering sound of water could be heard clearly.
ALL of a sudden, an explicit image of Bennett standing under the shower naked popped into Claudia's mind. She slapped herself back to reality, held her breath, and knocked on the door harder. She then shouted, “Bennett, can you hear me?"
Perhaps Bennett heard that because the pattering sound of water soon stopped.
Before Claudia could utter another word, the door swung open, blowing steam into her face. Bennett appeared from within the mist like some god.
