Chapter: 323
His hard chest was so close that she almost bobbed her head into it. A gasp escaped her lips.

“What's wrong?" It wasn't until his husky voice came from above that Claudia got back some of her senses.

Shaking her head, she blinked and cleared her throat. Her bid to act calm failed after her voice came out trembling. "Umm... The police are here and they want to see you.”

“The police?"

Bennett's eyebrows furrowed. He figured something out and nodded.

“Okay, I'll be right downstairs."

Instead of returning into the bathroom, Bennett leaned on the doorframe.

His eyes narrowed a little as he stared at her red face. Swallowing hard, he restrained himself and called her softly, "Claudia..."

"Uhm. What is it?"

Claudia's eyebrows were raised as she finally Looked up at him. Her eyes had just wandered to his chest muscles again.

Damn! His hard chest was a sight to behold. She almost reached out to trace the muscles with her slender fingers.

“What are you Looking at?"

"Huh?" Claudia's mouth opened wide when she realized she had been caught red-handed.

Not knowing what to do or say, she froze Like a statue while staring at him.

His black eyes seemed to be staring into her soul and making out her innermost thoughts.

For several beats, Claudia bit her lower lip hard until a metallic taste filled her mouth. "I wasn't looking at anything.

"Trust me, okay?"

"Let's just leave it at that, okay? I'll be downstairs with the cops. Throw on some clothes and come downstairs."

Claudia walked out quickly, leaving an air of confusion in her wake.

She ran all the way downstairs. Her heart continued to beat so hard against her chest.

It was so embarrassing!

Claudia stopped at the door and held her throbbing chest with one hand while touching her hot cheek with the other. She took in many deep breaths in thirty seconds. Afterward, she walked out the door with a frozen smile.

“I beg your pardon. My husband is in the shower and will join us very soon."

The domineering police officer simply nodded. His suspicion had reduced significantly. Since Claudia came out unhurt for the second time, there was no way a thief was inside the house.
