Chapter: 324
There was no point leaving now since Claudia had already gone to call her husband, so they waited.

Clad in nothing but a black bathrobe, Bennett finally showed up from upstairs. His wet hair and misty skin were clear indications that he had just gotten out of the shower.

With a simple gesture to Bennett, Claudia did a brief introduction.

“Officer, this is my husband, Bennett Dreskin.”

Her cheeks went aflame again as she glanced at Bennett. Since they had company now, they had to put up appearances as a normal couple.

Claudia inched closer to him. Taking a deep breath, she said, "Honey, this is the police officer I spoke about."

Bennett took a look at her and put his arm around her shoulders.

This move was so unexpected. With her side pressing against his, a tinge of pink appeared on her cheeks and ears.

Bennett was always in the news for achieving great feats in the business world. He graced the covers of many financial magazines and was always interviewed on TV. As a result, the officer knew who he was even though he had never met him in person.

The officer's last bit of uncertainty disappeared in a millisecond. He clasped his hand and said, “There has been some kind of a misunderstanding, Mr. Dreskin. We just wanted to ensure your Lovely wife's safety."

Bennett smiled and gave a jaunty wave. "No worries. Thanks for your concern.”

“You are most welcome.

Since there is nothing else, we will take our leave now. Have a good night."

With that, the cops nodded at Bennett and they all got into the car. Only when the police car disappeared into the night did Claudia breathe a sigh of relief.

Her relief was, however, short-lived. Her heart tightened again upon remembering the trouble she caused.

She looked up at Bennett with pitiful eyes and muttered remorsefully, “I'm sorry."

Bennett gave her a pat on the shoulder and said lightly, "You did no wrong, Claudia. It's good that you have great survival instincts."

He turned around and walked into the villa.

Claudia paused for a moment before following him in.

Who would have thought that Aurora would swing into action so fast?

At the thought of this, Claudia sent Aurora an explanatory message.

It was already late after the farce.

Claudia couldn't have a good night's sleep without taking a shower. So, she ran herself a bath and picked out a set of pajamas. She was on her way to the bathroom when there was a knock at the door.

She was home alone with Bennett now, so he must be the one at the door. Claudia put down her pajamas and went to answer the door. She drew a sharp breath as soon as her eyes fell on the man in front of her.
