Chapter: 371
“Yes, I will go for a follow-up consultation tomorrow."
“Morning?"
"Yes, morning."
Bennett frowned and said, "Call me when you are done. I'll pick you up."
Left to him, he would have driven her to the hospital. But he had an important meeting tomorrow morning that he couldn't miss.
Claudia said, "But I am supposed to meet up with my friend for Lunch.” Bennett, who was mentally planning a lunch date with his wife, didn't know what to say. He succumbed soon.
“Just be careful.”
“I will. My leg isn't that bad anymore, but I'll be careful. Don't worry."
"okay,"
Bennett said faintly.
The silence that fell brought a sense of awkwardness along. After scratching the back of her head, Claudia shifted on the sofa and piped up, "Since we have nothing more to talk about, can I go back to my room to rest?"
Bennett wasn't up for that. Before she could stand up, he asked, "Has Anthony contacted you recently?"
That name almost sounded alien to Claudia. She had almost forgotten she knew someone who went by that name. At this moment, she realized that it had been more than a month since she Last saw her ex-fiance or heard trom him.
She blinked her eyes and said, "No. Did he contact you?"
"Yes."
Unintentionally, Claudia grew nervous. She asked curiously, "What did he say? Was it bad?"
Bennett straightened up and took a sip of water from the glass on the table.
Thinking of what Anthony said last night, Bennett showed a mocking smile. When he Looked up, his expression was calm again. "Sort of."
“Oh my! I'm sorry about that. You know what? Anthony is an attention whore. Just continue to ignore whatever he says!"
Claudia already had an idea of what Anthony would have said to Bennett. That man was a jerk, to put it mildly.
She wasn't really afraid that Anthony would make Bennett mad and cause a full-blown war. She was just scared that Bennett would blame her for this.
The two of them hadn't had an altercation since this arrangement began. In fact, Bennett was good to her even though he was a Little cold. He always did things for Claudia without her asking.
As a result, it wasn't long before Claudia realized that he was like a big cat who wouldn't mind playing with someone. But if that person just so happened to cross the line, he wouldn't hesitate to scratch until blood flowed.
“Why are you apologizing?”
