Chapter: 394
“Cece? Hey!"
Joann called, but realized Claudia wasn't stopping at all
Left with no other option, Joann scurried to keep up, finally catching Claudia's arm. Out of breath, she asked, "Why are you moving so fast? Are you being chased by a wolf?"
There was no wolf, but Bennett was even scarier than a wolf!
“No, I just don't want to be late."
Joann checked her watch and said, "You still have ten minutes." Feeling embarrassed, Claudia responded, “Really? I must've mixed up the time!"
Joann shrugged and casually asked, "Why did you take this job anyway?"
“More pay, less effort, and it's closer to home."
After considering her words, Joann found that Claudia's explanation was indeed sensible!
Joann wanted to inquire about Claudia's life after marriage, particularly since Bennett's surprising appearance in support of Claudia last time at the charity show.
However, they were already at the cafe, stepping into a semi-private booth. Mathews and his agent were already waiting inside. Joann had to shut up and walked over with Claudia.
Since their last collaboration, Mathews and Claudia hadn't been in touch for two months.
Claudia preferred to keep her interactions with Mathews professional. That morning, Joann and Miguel had agreed on the contract's details. Claudia quickly read through the terms and, finding no alterations, signed it without delay.
The entire signing process took less than five minutes.
Picking up her phone, Claudia glanced at Mathews and said, “Can I head back now?"
Mathews inquired, "Are you so busy today?"
“Then why don't you even have time to have a cup of coffee with us?" Mathews asked, with Joann reflecting the same question in her eyes.
With a touch of embarrassment, Claudia replied, "A friend of mine is waiting for me in the parking area."
Miguel didn't want Mathews to have too much contact with Claudia. Hearing her words, Miguel said timely, “Since your friend is awaiting, let's plan to meet another day!"
Mathews eyed Claudia and probed, "Is it a friend or your husband?" Caught off guard, Claudia's cheeks turned pink as she admitted, "It's Bennett."
Joann, who admired their relationship, couldn't resist saying, "Mr. Dreskin is truly kind to you!"
“He treats me wonderfully!"
After her declaration, Claudia stood up and announced, "I must go now. If anything comes up, just message me!"
She waved her phone and exited the booth.
