Chapter: 411
Claudia clutched the bath towel closer and stammered, “I'm going back to shower and change my clothes!"
She ran away before even finishing her sentence, water trailing behind her.
Watching her retreat, Bennett was struck by thoughts of her slender legs beneath the dress, and he felt a stir of longing. He spun around and dove back into the pool for the glass.
Inside, Marcia had dinner ready and was about to head upstairs to call Claudia. As she entered the living room, she was taken aback to see Claudia drenched and hurrying.
Marcia gasped. "Mrs. Dreskin, what... What happened to you?"
“Well... I was just swimming.”
Claudia had no intention of admitting she had fallen into the water.
“Oh! That's nice. Swimming is indeed a splendid exercise, good for health.”
Claudia gave a composed nod and said, “Indeed, swimming is great exercise. I'll head upstairs to shower, Marcia. After you've finished preparing dinner, you may head home.”
“Alright, alright. Go shower and change so you don't catch a cold!" Claudia acknowledged her with a quick okay and dashed upstairs.
Half an hour later, freshly showered, Claudia descended the stairs, immediately spotting the glass prominently displayed on the table. Claudia was left speechless.
Did Bennett really have to place it somewhere so noticeable?
Bennett was already seated at the table, sporting a loose white shirt and black straight-Legged trousers. His damp, unruly hair softened his usual cool demeanor.
Claudia moved to sit across from him, accepting the soup with a "Thank you."
“It's fine." Bennett eyed her, inquiring nonchalantly, “Did you run into someone you know this afternoon?"
Feeling a bit hungry, Claudia took a sip of soup. His question made her look up, replying, “What? Oh, I bumped into someone who brought me bad luck."
She didn't really want to tell Bennett about bumping into Everly. Although it had already ruined her own mood, there was no reason to spoil his as well.
Quickly changing the subject, Claudia said, “Speaking of which, my father's birthday is approaching. I plan to buy him a watch and have dinner with him."
“Alright, I'll have my secretary purchase it."
“No, there's no need. I can pick out something myself. Then we will tell him..."
Before Claudia could finish her words, the man said, "Since you are my wife, the watch must be special. Acquiring a collectible watch isn't simple, so my secretary should handle it."
Claudia asked, "But isn't that very costly?"
She hadn't budgeted for anything so extravagant!
Bennett regarded her, eyebrows slightly raised, and questioned, "Do you really think I'd have my wife pay for it?"
