Chapter: 564
Claudia initially assumed that a staff member had rectified the error but, upon lifting her gaze, she realized it was Bennett.
Her surprise was evident. "Haven't you gone to the lunch appointment?"
“It's finished."
In fact, he just left early, leaving the client speechless
Bennett shut the door, loosened his tie and approached Claudia. "Why did you suddenly come here?"
Feeling awkward about admitting her true purpose of delivering Lunch, Claudia replied, “Oh, I just happened to be passing by and thought I'd check in."
“Passing by with a Lunch box?" Seating himself across from her, Bennett inquired, “Have you had Lunch?"
In that moment, Claudia felt a touch of resentment and stated, "No, I'm actually quite hungry.”
After all, his employee had essentially Locked her inside his office! Taking the lunch box from her, Bennett remarked, “Perfect timing. I didn't manage to eat anything earlier. I'm hungry as well."
As he spoke, he proceeded to open the Lunch box.
Claudia was taken aback by this revelation.
The Lunch emitted an enticing fragrance, causing Claudia's previously hungry stomach to immediately growl.
Right now, within the office, only Bennett and her were present. The tranquil setting made the sudden growling sound very conspicuous.
Raising his gaze towards her, Bennett said, "I appreciate it, Mrs. Dreskin."
Forcing a smile, Claudia replied, “You're welcome.”
She must have disturbed fate.
Why else did she keep finding herself in so many predicaments?
Bennett took out each layer in the lunch box, arranging them on the table. He then wiped the utensils and handed her a fork, saying, "You can start eating.”
As she held the fork and looked at him, Claudia casually asked, feigning nonchalance, “Aren't you joining me for Lunch, Mr. Dreskin?"
Hadn't he mentioned being hungry since he hadn't eaten much at the lunch appointment with the client earlier?
She had prepared them herself. Could he truly have decided not to taste them? "Yes." Claudia hadn't had her lunch upon arriving, thus she had readied two sets of utensils and plates.
Once he wiped the other set of utensils, Bennett served himself a bowl of soup. However, as he was about to begin, he noticed the expectant gaze of the person across the table.
The emotions in her beautiful eyes were unmistakable — brimming with hope.
Instantly comprehending her motive, Bennett sipped the soup and inquired, "Did you personally prepare today's lunch?"
