Chapter: 572
"Hello, Claudia. Do you remember me?"
Of course Claudia remembered him. His name was Breck, and he was a friend of Bennett's. She greeted him, "Fancy seeing you here, Mr. Santos. I haven't seen you in a long time. How are you?"
Now that she had someone to talk to, Claudia no longer felt uncomfortable.
“Oh, please, do call me Breck. In fact, I thought you wouldn't remember me. I'm actually good. How are you?" Breck replied with a smile.
Claudia answered, "I'm good, too, thanks for asking. Of course I remember you. We've met twice after all.”
Her memory was pristine.
“Where's Bennett? Is he here with you?" Breck asked, raising his eyebrows.
Claudia shook her head. "No. I've come alone. Bennett's away on a business trip. I forgot to tell him about this party.”
Breck nodded. "Oh, I see. I mean, knowing Bennett, he wouldn't let his wife come to a party like this by herself."
“A party like this?"
Claudia thought that what Breck just said was interesting.
"Yes, a party Like this.”
Embarrassed, Claudia muttered, "Oh, I see."
She felt that what he said was equivalent to nonsense.
The two of them weren't very familiar with each other and had nothing much to talk about.
While they struggled to make small talk, a waiter carrying a tray full of drinks passed by them a few times, but Claudia never took a glass. She even refused the glass of red wine Breck offered her. She said sheepishly, "I can't drink much."
“Oh, I know."
No wonder Bennett asked him to bring her some red wine.
He had an ulterior motive after all!
It was obvious that being in Kristy and Anthony's engagement party had been keeping Claudia on her toes.
She hadn't had any food or drinks. She just stuck around there like a beautiful wallflower.
Breck admired her vigilance.
Bennett really had underestimated his wife. She was careful to a fault. Breck and Claudia stood half a meter away from each other and casually chatted. Time flew by.
Then, the lights onstage suddenly dimmed. Claudia found a seat nearby and sat down. Breck followed her suit.
