Chapter: 573
After the ceremony was over, she would say goodbye to Kristy and Anthony and head home.
By then, she would've survived this night.
Anyway, she didn't lose face while she didn't know, nor did she care anyway, whether or not Kristy made a fool of herself.
Soon, the lights in the banquet hall went low. Breck saw a waiter coming over. He stopped him and asked, “Are you looking for Miss Marshall?"
The waiter was stunned for a moment. With a sincere smile on his face, Breck said, "I'm Miss Marshall's friend. She just went to use the bathroom. Look, this is her purse, isn't it?"
When the waiter saw that the man talking to him indeed held Claudia's purse, he got a Little anxious. Breck asked, still smiling, "What is it you want to see her about?"
The waiter hesitated for a moment and then handed a note to Breck. "Mr. Nixon asked me to give this to Miss Marshall. It's very important, sir. Will you make sure Miss Marshall gets it?"
“Okay. I'll give it to her when she comes back," Breck replied, narrowing his eyes.
“Please, sir. I don't want to get in trouble."
The waiter was worried that the note wouldn't make it to Claudia, so he repeated himself to Breck.
The waiter didn't leave until Breck repeated what he had said to him. However, the waiter didn't go far. He just stepped aside and waited for Claudia to come back.
At this moment, the host was standing onstage and livening things up. Claudia didn't go to the bathroom. She stepped outside to take a phone call from Bennett.
As soon as she came back and sat down, Breck stuck a piece of candy into her hand and said, "Have a candy. Don't worry. I brought it with me."
A bit embarrassed, Claudia said, "Thank you."
She tore the wrapper, put the candy into her mouth, and found that it was mango-flavored candy.
Claudia was stunned for a moment and then looked at Breck.
“This candy..."
"Why? What's wrong with it? Doesn't it taste good?"
"No, no, it does."
But why did Breck give her this mango-flavored candy? Did Bennett and his friends like it?
With a smile on his face, Breck said, “Bennett gave me a bunch of that candy the other day. He said it was delicious."
Although Breck didn't know what the special meaning of the candy was, he still told Claudia who gave it to him. He was afraid that if he didn't, Claudia would become suspicious.
"Oh, I see."
Claudia rolled the candy onto the tip of her tongue. Its sweetness and sourness mingled wonderfully in her mouth.
