Chapter: 608
A few days Later, Claudia was having dinner with Aurora at a restaurant when she saw Kayla and Bennett walk in together. She was so shocked that she felt as if someone just punched her right in the head.
She dropped her fork on the table, making a loud clanging sound and attracting the attention of everyone around.
Aurora, who was texting back her colleague while complaining she might have to work overtime tonight, noticed that Claudia's eyes had turned red and that grievance had twisted her normally delicate features when she looked up. Bewildered, Aurora asked, “Cece?”
What had happened in the mere seconds that she Lowered her head to check her phone?
Aurora was really perplexed by the vexed look on her best friend's face.
“Nothing. Are you heading back to the company later?" Claudia took a deep breath before speaking.
After seeing how Claudia reacted, Aurora felt uneasy about leaving her alone and going back to work. "Are you okay? Did something happen to you?"
“I'm fine, Aurora. What do you think is wrong with me?"
“Cece, I gotta be honest with you. I know when you're Lying. You're not very good at it," Aurora countered, pressing her lips together.
Naturally, Claudia knew that she wasn't very good at lying. However, it would be humiliating to tear up and break down in public
She couldn't understand why, but Lately, she would always find herself wondering if Bennett knew that she Liked him and whether he would hate her for it.
Though she wanted to know the answer to those questions, she was at the same time terrified of actually knowing them.
However, the man was so perceptive that he could see right through anyone's heart. Claudia feared that she would expose her true feelings for him by accident, so the only thing she could do was to avoid him like the plague.
That afternoon, when she saw his message, telling her that he wasn't coming home for dinner, she heaved a sigh of relief and decided to hang out with her friend.
However, to her surprise, she ran into him and Kayla having dinner in this same restaurant.
In truth, it wasn't that big of a deal.
But even if she knew that, she still felt wronged, and she couldn't understand why she was feeling that way.
Seeing as Claudia had been silent for some time, Aurora paused before asking, "Did Bennett say something to you?"
Claudia shook her head and pursed her Lips before saying, “I... I saw him just now."
“Why did it make you feel bad to see him?" asked Aurora.
“Because I saw him with Kayla," said Claudia.
At this point, Aurora wasn't sure how to respond. Seconds later, she asked, “Did it make you jealous seeing them together?"
“Am I not allowed to feeling jealous?"
Having said how she truly felt, Claudia was now able to calm down.
