Chapter: 630
As she reclined on her back and contemplated returning to her previous position, a large hand suddenly pressed against her waist.
“If you're truly unable to sleep, Mrs. Dreskin, I wouldn't mind engaging in some exercises before slumber," Bennett suggested.
Claudia's heart quivered upon hearing this, and she implored, “Bennett, please don't do this to me."
He had promised not to make any advances tonight!
In the darkness, the man let out a resigned sigh.
With a soft click, the room's nightlight flickered to life.
In its gentle glow, Claudia instinctively squinted before gradually adjusting to the light. She then opened her eyes and stole a quick glance at Bennett, who sat up beside her.
“I'm sorry," she murmured.
The man gazed at her, rose from the bed and stood at its edge. "Come here," he beckoned.
Claudia hesitated. "What's the matter?"
“I'LL escort you back to the guest room."
Otherwise, they would endure the entire night in this manner without anyone having any sleep.
Upon hearing his words, Claudia's beautiful eyes brightened. "No, thank you. I can manage on my own."
She shifted to get out of bed and make her way back independently, only to realize her slippers were missing.
While Claudia searched for her slippers, Bennett scooped her up into his arms.
“Remain still. If you keep moving, I will break my promise."
At his words, Claudia obediently allowed him to carry her to the guest room.
With a sigh of relief, she hastily settled into bed, as if fearing Bennett might change his mind. She pulled the quilt over herself and clutched it tightly.
“I'm going to sleep now. Good night."
Bennett glanced at her with a helpless expression and replied, “Good night."
He smoothed her hair, turned off the light, closed the door, and left the room.
Watching his departing figure, Claudia couldn't help but feel that she had pushed him too far.
Could this lead to his resentment?
Claudia's slumber had been far from restful; throughout the night, she was enveloped in a dream of romance.
