Chapter: 669
Following breakfast, they headed directly to the Munville Villa Complex. Meanwhile, Jace had just finished reading the newspaper over breakfast and was preparing to go fishing when he heard a voice calling out, “Dad!”
He paused for a split second, and then chuckled as he scoffed at himself, "Am I so old that I'm hearing things now?"
But the next moment, when he opened the villa's door, there was Claudia, waving enthusiastically from the car's window, shouting, "Dad!"
Jace was momentarily dumbfounded before the realization dawned - his beloved daughter was visiting him!
Joy welled up inside him. However, a nagging thought surfaced a few moments later; his daughter had just been married!
It had been merely ten days since Claudia's last visit. Why was she back so soon? Had something gone awry between her and Bennett?
With this thought in mind, Jace inquired, “Did You Quarrel With
Bennett?”
She looked utterly perplexed upon hearing this.
As soon as Jace concluded his statement, the echo of another "Dad" reverberated.
Following the parking of the car, Bennett trailed Claudia, his ears still tingling from Jace's recent not-so-soft-spoken words.
Claudia's gaze briefly flickered towards her father before settling on her husband, an uncomfortable air enveloping her.
Jace cleared his throat and ventured forth, "No offense, Bennett, but I can't help but worry about your relationship!”
“Dad, don't worry. With nothing much on our agenda this week, Cece and I decided to pay you a visit."
Moved by his sincerity, Jace responded, “It's your weekend off. You two should go enjoy yourselves! Why accompany an old man Like me?”
"Dad, you're not just any old man. You're a fascinating one,” Claudia chimed in, her hand gently resting on Jace's arm.
Observing the fishing gear in Jace’s grasp, she inquired, “Dad, did we interrupt your fishing plans?”
Jace inspected his fishing rod and chuckled, "You mischievous girl! Now you're teasing me too. Since you and Bennett are back, why should I bother with fishing?"
Setting the fishing equipment aside, he suggested, “Let's head inside and catch up!"
Upon Claudia and Bennett's return, Elmo and Chana greeted them warmly, promptly serving tea without waiting for Jace's instruction.
“It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Dreskin and Mrs. Dreksin."
Jace settled onto the sofa, with Claudia perched beside him. "Dad, I'LL prepare some tea for you!"
“Despite being all grown up now, you're still my little one!"
Jace may have uttered these words but his eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he regarded Claudia.
