Chapter: 721
“Someone I know."
Claudia poured the toner into her palm and rubbed her hands together before applying it to her face.
“Who is this 'someone'?"
She paused to think and replied, “A young boy."
“A young boy?"
Bennett bit the candy, and his mouth immediately filled with the sweet and sour taste.
“I met him back in high school," Claudia said, turning her head to Look at him.
"You seem to Like him very much."
Claudia pouted. "I don't. I don't even remember what he Looks Like." The young boy's intense black eyes were all she could recall about him. Now that she thought about it, she realized that Bennett looked similar to that boy who gave her candy many years ago.
As she rubbed the toner on her cheeks, Claudia stared at Bennett.
The longer she studied him, the more she found similarities between him and the young boy.
“What are you thinking about, Mrs. Dreskin?"
Feeling a little guilty, Claudia averted her gaze.
“Nothing. I just want to look at you.”
“Really? You're not thinking about that boy?"
Claudia's fingers shook; he was right. She nervously returned her attention to the mirror and answered, "No."
Bennett slowly approached her. "But you were looking at me just now. Do I look like that boy?"
Unable to stop herself, Claudia met Bennett's gaze.
Her ears were burning from the nervousness she was feeling.
Bennett chuckled.
“Do you see me as a replacement for the boy you once fell in love with, Mrs. Dreskin?"
“Huh?" Claudia frowned at him.
Where did that come from?
It was as if he could read her mind. A split second later, Bennett leaned into her ear and whispered, “Isn't that what you told me before?"
