Chapter: 737
At the moment, she could think of nothing but the notion that someone had read her diary.
Bennett was expecting some kind of emotional declaration from her, but she responded in a way that left him at a loss for words.
He stared at her in silence for a moment. Then, he finally replied, “I didn't read your diary."
“Then how did you know about this?"
If Bennett had not reenacted the scene in the film, Claudia probably would have forgotten about it.
“I had a dream once where a girl told me that she would immediately marry the man who would confess his love to her on the beach, just like the hero did for the heroine in the movie she loved."
Bennett smiled at her, studied her face, and saw how her eyes shone so brightly that it seemed like the sun was hiding inside of them.
“You're lying to me!"
She was too old to believe such nonsense.
“If you don't believe me, go and check if your diary is still where you left it."
After a pause, Bennett said, “If I could prove that I didn't touch your diary, would you let me read it?"
Claudia went silent.
So, no matter what happened, her diary would be read by other people Was that it?
Of course, Claudia did not want that. His argument seemed logical at first, but it was really just a trap.
Bennett smiled playfully. "Mrs. Dreskin, are you sure this is the best time to interrogate me?"
Claudia turned to meet his gaze and saw her and the flames’ reflection in them.
She tightened her lips, realizing she had crossed a line.
Biting her lower lip, she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his waist. She gazed up at him and asked shyly, “Shall I give you a kiss?"
“Just a kiss?"
“Two kisses, then."
"One kiss, but two minutes Long."
“That's.."
Bennett had already claimed her lips before she could protest. The man's breath and body heat engulfed her in an instant.
In the background, she could hear the waves crashing and some people's distant voices. For a moment, Claudia thought she had become the main character in a movie.
