Chapter: 868
With a playful downward glance, Bennett teased, "Absolutely, just in case you decided not to let me stay, Mrs. Dreskin.”
A blush bloomed on Claudia's face as she took another sip of water, murmuring defiantly, “I wouldn't do that."
She nibbled on the rim of the cup before voicing another concern. "So, isn't your room going unused now?"
It was clear Bennett's accommodation was far from ordinary.
Her surroundings suddenly felt somewhat inadequate as she suggested, somewhat timidly, "Maybe we could go to your room?"
“Whatever makes you happy, Mrs. Dreskin," Bennett said.
"Just give me a moment to gather my things," Claudia said, handing him her cup.
Then she turned around and ran to the bathroom to collect the things. Bennett watched her leave, a smile touching his lips as he brought her cup to his and indulged in a sip of water.
Claudia's suitcase contained only a few items. She wrapped her arms around it and sealed it shut.
Anyway, she just needed to change the room.
“I'm all set, Bennett!”
She glanced at the man, and as soon as she finished speaking, the phone in her hand vibrated.
Instinctively, she peered at the new message. It was Aurora, teasing, “Mr. Dreskin sure knows how to flaunt love! I'm really envious!"
Seeing that, Claudia was quite confused for a second.
Spotting the sudden message from Aurora, Claudia automatically replied with a question mark to her. What did Aurora mean?
The moment she sent her reply, Bennett approached and gently took the suitcase from her, suggesting, "Alright, let's get moving."
She gave a nod, her gaze dropping to where he held her hand. A smile blossomed on her face, her hold on his hand involuntarily firming.
They reached a busy elevator with a good number of people already there.
Seeing the crowded elevator in front of her, Claudia instinctively glanced at Bennett beside her and asked, “Should we get in or should we wait for the next ride?"
The people inside had already created space for them, and Bennett affirmed, “Let's just go."
During this time, many people were on the move, so even if they waited for the next elevator, there was no guarantee it would be Less crowded.
“Okay, Claudia said in a low voice and followed him into the elevator. Within the compact space of the elevator, Bennett released her hand, instead draping an arm around her shoulders to pull her close, a protective barrier against the other passengers.
The pair naturally gravitated closer, a slight move from Claudia resulting in her head coming into contact with his chin.
A shy blush tinged her cheeks. As the elevator doors gradually met, her heartbeat amplified, reverberating in her chest.
