Chapter: 914
"That's not true. In fact, there is someone I'm really afraid of."
“Who is it?"
“My father.
She then covered her mouth to stifle her laughter.
Bennett's lips curled upward into a smile, and the glow of contentment on his face was like the sun on a cold winter's day.
Claudia's cheeks heat up at the sight of it. She turned to face the windshield and discovered that the lights had turned green.
“The light has turned green."
Bennett looked away from her and started the car.
Claudia sighed in relief before taking a sip of her smoothie. She blushed when she remembered that the straw had been in Bennett's mouth earlier. Then again, they had kissed before. Compared to the kisses they shared, using the same straw was an innocent gesture.
Claudia recalled their kisses next, and the redness of her face spread to her ears.
It had gone quiet in the car. Every now and then, Claudia stole a glance at Bennett, who had his full attention on the road.
He was bathed in sunlight. His perfect jawline rivaled that of a classical sculpture. Even if the sun was shining a little too brightly on him, it did nothing but draw attention to his handsome features.
It seemed that they were right when they said that God had favorites. Claudia tore her gaze away from the man for fear that he would catch her staring.
She faced the windshield again, pretending to be concentrating on the road in front of her.
It was already five o'clock in the afternoon when the couple got home. When Claudia stepped out of the car and saw Bennett open the trunk, she remembered what she bought earlier.
Bennett quickly grabbed the shopping bags before she could. He raised a brow at her and asked, “Are you afraid that I'll break something in there?"
Claudia shook her head sheepishly.
"No." Bennett hunmed.
“What did you buy?" It was the second time he had asked that question.
Claudia was too shy to answer him in the car earlier, but she was more prepared now. She looked at the bags he was holding and said, "I bought you a small gift."
Her voice dropped as she added, "It's really small, literally." After all, she could not afford to buy him a bigger item. Bennett's eyes lit up with excitement.
He raised one of the shopping bags in his hand and asked, “Is it this one?" The bag he was holding up actually contained the necklace Claudia had purchased for herself, She bought it because she thought it looked pretty.
She shook her head.
“It's the other one."
