Chapter: 1934
"You're free to do whatever you want," her mother replied sullenly.
Camila was fully aware that she had been coming back late in the last few days. Rowena didn't really concern herself with her daughter's work, but she did care for Camila's overall well-being.
Camila jumped into her car. She left the driving to Eagle and called Isaac.
“You're up?" he said lightly as soon as he picked up the phone.
“Why didn't you wake me up?" Camila grumbled.
“You were sleeping so soundly," he replied in a teasing tone. She could tell that he was smiling.
"And whose fault is that? You were the one who..." Camila was about to air out her grievances, but she drifted off upon realizing that she wasn't alone in the car.
Then she heard Isaac laughing on the other end of the call. She clicked her tongue in frustration. "Make sure to come home early tonight."
“\hy?" Isaac asked, his interest piqued. "What are you planning to do?"
“Settle accounts, once and for all." Camila didn't give him a chance to respond and immediately hung up.
Isaac just stared at his phone and grinned.
Meanwhile, Alick arrived safely in Faymoor.
The hour was late, so he headed to a hotel to spend the night. He would just have to see Annis the following day.
His flight had been long and tedious, but he was far from tired. If anything, he felt more energetic than he had been before he boarded the plane.
Perhaps it was his eagerness to see Annis.
Alick had decided to heed Isaac's advice. Instead of hiding in the sidelines, he would come to her at her workplace.
Sure enough, the next morning, he was standing at the door of her company. The moment Annis spotted him, however, she turned on her heel and walked away from the building.
Determined to say his piece, Alick quickly caught up to her.
"Annis," Alick called out to her.
As he repeated her name, she quickened her pace.
