Chapter: 2004
Once they were in the room, she demanded, “What happened exactly?"
Isaac lounged on the bed, watching her with a lazy smile. “Are you that worried?" he asked.
Camila couldn't decipher Isaac's emotions. His deep-seated resentment toward Robin was no secret, and given the circumstances, his indifferent response to Robin's death didn't surprise her. Yet, he was a relative. Could he truly feel nothing, not even sadness?
"Haven't you been wondering what I've been up to? Come here, and I'll tell you." He extended his hand to Camila.
With a moment of hesitation, Camila slowly walked over and placed her hand in his. Isaac clasped her hand firmly, tugging her into his embrace. Camila naturally settled onto his lap.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, Isaac leaned in close to her ear and whispered softly, "Do you think I'm heartless and cold-blooded?"
“Of course not." Camila shook her head as she held tightly to his neck. "I know you're a good person."
Issac laughed. "A good person? That's what you call a compliment?"
"It's the best compliment. Don't you want to be a good person, or would you rather be seen as a villain?" Camila stroked his cheek gently and looked into his eyes. “Are you really okay?"
Robin, his relative, had passed away. All his blood relatives were gone. Camila at least had her mother. But Issac? What did he have left?
Issac responded, "Don't I have you?"
Camila hugged him tightly. "Mm, I'll take good care of you."
Issac chuckled. "Are you taking care of me, or am I taking care of you?"
Camila paused. She cleared her throat. “I'll resign." But she wouldn't do so until all the current issues were resolved.
Isaac held her hand, his thumb caressing the back of her hand. He spoke softly. “He forced me to release Travis. I refused, and he died from the stress and lack of timely medical intervention."
"Travis?" Camila frowned. "Wasn't he incapacitated by the medication?"
"I'm not sure how he regained consciousness after the last incident. It was also he who orchestrated the kidnapping case." Issac had his suspicions, but he had no concrete evidence. So, he had stationed his people at the old house to watch Travis. Over time, they actually found evidence.
When Issac tried to arrest him, Robin intervened, refusing to let him proceed. During the confrontation, Robin suffered a fatal attack.
Camila understood the gravity of the situation. She abruptly stood up from his embrace, both furious and annoyed. “It was him? He's the mastermind who made Annis..."
At that moment, Camila despised her own weakness. She regretted her soft-heartedness. She shouldn't have suggested medicating Travis. Her leniency had led to this tragedy.
