Chapter: 2005
"Mila." Isaac grabbed her hand, his voice firm yet soothing. "This isn't your fault."

Camila gazed at him and murmured, “I know you're trying to comfort me." She found it hard not to blame herself, even though the pain wasn't hers to carry.

As a woman, she empathized deeply with what Annis had experienced.

Isaac spoke softly. “Annis has begun to mend things with Alick, and they're doing well now. You shouldn't carry all the blame."

Camila's eyebrows lifted in surprise. How was she not aware of this?

When had they reconciled? It was a relief, however, that Annis had made peace and was starting anew with Alick.

She straightened and inquired, "Where's Travis now?"

"Locked up," Isaac replied with a somber look. "He's barely alive."

The events of the past still haunted him. The damage it had inflicted on him and those close to him was irreversible. Isaac could never forgive Travis.

Despite Robin's desperate pleas, Isaac remained unmoved. He had severely beaten Travis and now kept him confined in the old house.

“Regarding Robin's funeral arrangements—"

“His son will handle it. I'll just make an appearance," Isaac interrupted Camila, already guessing what she was about to say.

Gunter was not very mobile these days, yet he was still kicking.

Rumor had it that he had kept a young, beautiful girl and seemed oblivious to Travis' ordeal, completely smitten with her. His lustful nature was no secret.

Camila agreed, "That's for the best." She worried Isaac might opt out of involvement, which could lead to public embarrassment for the Johnston family. After all, family scandals are best kept under wraps.

Isaac chuckled. "Hasn't it been known for quite some time that Robin and I don't see eye to eye? Haven't we always been at odds?"

Camila remained silent for a moment before clearing her throat.

"Regardless, now that he's passed, you still need to play the part."

It was important to avoid any talk of him being so heartless that he even showed disrespect to his own grandfather. Even though the Johnston family had often mistreated Isaac, he had to maintain decorum in these matters.

With a grin, Isaac replied, “I'll take your advice."
