Chapter: 2049
Once the hotel booking was confirmed and Camila hung up the phone, Laura shifted the conversation. “What can I do for you this time?"
"I had no idea you were pregnant. If I had known, I wouldn't have reached out to you. And I don't want you to strain yourself."
Camila's gaze drifted to Laura's protruding belly, and she said, "I'll ask Isaac to find someone else to help me."
Laura furrowed her brow in confusion. "Since when have you become so indecisive?"
"It's not that I've changed, but.. Camila began. Her hand instinctively rested on Laura's belly. "The baby wouldn't approve!"
Understanding dawned on Laura.
“Who died? Do you need me to do the autopsy?"
The mention of an autopsy drew Morrison's attention, causing him to suddenly turn back to look at them.
It was clear that he was nervous. He didn't want his pregnant wife to touch a corpse!
Laura's sharp gaze bore into him as she retorted, “Why are you so jittery? I know what I'm doing."
Morrison coughed awkwardly, cautioning, “Stop trying so hard to be tough."
Camila could see the couple's exchange, observing the clear familiarity between them.
She couldn't help but smile softly.
It seemed that they really loved each other.
Clarifying the situation to Morrison, Camila explained, "I wasn't aware of Laura's pregnancy initially. Rest assured, I won't involve her now."
Morrison inquired further, "Can your issue be resolved without our help?"
Camila nodded. "I've made other arrangements."
Isaac said that he could help her find a forensic expert.
“Can you tell us what happened? Maybe we can help," Morrison offered, his demeanor friendly and open.
After all, Camila was Laura's friend first and foremost.
