Chapter: 2072
Camila was quick to dismiss, her voice a flutter, “Oh, it's nothing concrete. Just speaking hypothetically."
Skepticism colored Isaac's reply. "That doesn't sit right with me."
Isaac gently tilted her face upwards. "Look at me, please. I need the truth."
Camila, slightly irritated, nudged him away. "Can't you take a joke? Why so grim?"
Isaac's response was firm. "This isn't a joke to me. It feels more like a test."
At that moment, Alick interrupted with his arrival, carrying documents.
The tense atmosphere prompted him to retreat, but Camila called out, “Hold on, what have you got there?"
Curiously, she rose from the sofa to approach Alick, who handed over the documents.
As she sifted through the papers, details about Tyrese leaped out at her.
Turning to Isaac, concern etched into her features, she inquired, "What's our plan regarding this?"
Isaac, tuning into Camila's disquiet, gestured towards the bag sprawled on the sofa. "We should involve the authorities," he suggested simply.
He revealed that he had collected this information when Kameron was in a coma. After Kameron regained consciousness, Isaac put it aside.
But now, they had a new purpose - to deter Tyrese from causing further distress to Camila.
"It's a matter for the state to handle — Kameron's passing and the pharmaceutical company's dealings," Isaac concluded, deciding not to intervene personally.
Camila, absorbing the logic in his words, conceded, "That does sound right."
“I'll go grab us some drinks," she said, feeling parched.
Upon returning, she discovered Alick's absence, leaving her alone with Isaac, who was examining a pair of trousers — hers, she realized, which she had removed earlier.
His gaze met hers, holding a silent conversation in the quiet room.
Setting down her cup, Camila approached Isaac, taking the dirty trousers from his hand and placing them in a bag. Looking up at him, she questioned, “Isaac, why are you so sensitive?"
She gestured towards the bag and explained, “I'm on my period. You actually checked my discarded pants from earlier. Do you think I'm hiding something?"
