Chapter: 2098
Annis felt quite thirsty.
“What would you like to drink?" Camila repeated.
"Juice would be nice," Annis responded.
Camila served some fresh juice that Glenda had left in the fridge.
She made herself a cup of brown sugar water.
Sitting down, she faced Annis. "You came back to see Alick, didn't you?"
Annis lowered her gaze. "He's been busy lately and doesn't have time to visit me, so I came."
Camila gripped her cup tightly, feeling the warmth in her hand yet a chill in her heart while looking at Annis.
Her sense of guilt toward Annis might haunt her for the rest of her life.
Alick had been preoccupied lately.
It was probably because of her.
Camila somewhat felt that she was a burden to others.
“Camila, what's bothering you?" Seeing her sad expression, Annis asked.
Camila promptly shook her head. “It's nothing, and I was just lost in thought." She sat close to Annis, took her hand, and held it warmly, “I'm so glad you and Alick have made up."
Annis bit her lip. “I really care about him, but I feel like I don't deserve him anymore."
Camila struggled to find the right words to comfort her.
The pain she had endured was too heavy.
Comforting words seemed inadequate.
“Perhaps time will heal all wounds," she murmured gently.
Annis stared blankly into the distance. "Perhaps."
