Chapter: 2180
"I'm afraid you can't."
Camila was confused. “Why not?"
"You've got to be part of a live broadcast," Hyman said.
"What kind of broadcast?"
Hyman explained the details.
Their artificial heart project had received approval for mass production. It wasn't going to be made in huge numbers; it was a delicate technology that required a lot of skill.
The news needed to get out there. It had to reach patients who might need an artificial heart.
“And the patient you operated on is going to be there with you."
Camila was not into public appearances.
“Do I really have to do this?" she asked.
"Yep," Hyman confirmed.
“Then you do it for me," Camila suggested.
“I can't," Hyman replied. “As the director, you saved a patient who was on the brink of death using our artificial heart. You're the only one who can give this credibility."
But Camila shook her head and said, "Ask around and see who wants to do it."
Someone at the institute would probably love the spotlight.
She just wasn't interested.
She knew it was a big deal.
But she was about to leave the job and go home.
"Let Mr. Carbonell handle it."
“And when I'm gone, I want him to take over my role," Camila said.
