“Laura is injured..."

Camila shot up.

Her anxiousness was evident in her voice. “What happened? How... Is it serious?"

There was a short pause from the other side before the man answered, "Yes, but there's nothing to worry about. Her life isn't in immediate danger."

Camila was able to breathe out in relief when Laura's safety was confirmed. "How is she?"

"Not so good..." The man's voice faltered.

Camila frowned. "Tell me straight."

“If you have time, I'd Like to invite you to come over. She could use some comfort and company right now."

Camila took a wild guess and asked, "Is it because of Morrison that she..."

"That's not the only reason," the man answered, cutting her off. "If you don't have time, it doesn't matter. We'll take good care of her."

Camila thought for a while.

It wasn't that she didn't want to come. But preparations would take at least two or three days.

With two kids here, she had to get them settled first.

"Give me a few days," she said.

"Alright," the man answered.

With that, he hung up. “What happened? You look pale." Isaac was quick to ask.

“Nothing,” Camila answered.

She sat down, leaning on his shoulder. “It was about Laura."

Isaac had guessed it.

Camila hesitated for a moment, then asked, “When are we going back?"
