Chapter: 1227
Twenty seconds Later, the Oracle Stone didn't Light up.
"You, go and stand next to Cyril," Doris ordered coldly, not even bothering to call him by his name anymore.
Garfield swallowed and stammered nervously, “No, but... Let me try again
Without waiting for her permission, he pressed his palm against the Oracle Stone again.
“You're wasting everybody's time!" Doris snapped with a frown.
When Cyril saw her frowning, he strode over with purpose in his steps.
Cyril was a level one ancient martial arts practitioner. He lifted Garfield who was about 6 feet and 170 pounds with one hand and threw him to the side as though it was nothing.
Garfield's face went white with terror. This was it. He had lost his chance to get access to this powerful clan he had always wanted to join. Depressed, Garfield collapsed to the ground.
“Next, Vivian Vivian shook with a start when she heard her name. She was so nervous because she knew she couldn't cheat her way into this one. All she really had going for her right now, were her silent prayers.
With fear an apprehension, Vivian walked up to the Oracle Stone and pressed her palm against it with her eyes shut tight.
To everyone's surprise, the Oracle Stone lit up within five seconds. The brightness was also surprisingly strong, compared to Avianna's dim light earlier.
“Yes! I... I've got talents for martial arts!" Vivian was stunned. She was looking at Doris in disbelief.
Doris smiled at her and said, "Congratulations, Miss Vivian. It's clear that you have great talent. The specific Level of your abilities will be determined after further data analysis is done."
"Okay! Thank you!" Vivian had no words to describe her joy. Now, she was officially going to be a member of the Jenkins clan. Feeling the envious gazes on her, she puffed her chest out proudly.
However, her excitement soon faded and was replaced with anxiety and panic when Doris called the next person up.
“Next, Maria."
Vivian's head snapped in Maria's direction, clenching her fists discreetly.
"No! Please, please, please Oracle Stone! Do not shine!" Vivian cried in her mind as Maria stepped forward. With an inaudible whimper, she prayed again, “Even if you have to shine, do not let her steal my thunder."
Judging from how the stone Lit up for Avianna and then for Vivian, everyone guessed that the brightness of the stone determined who was more talented.
Doris didn't admit it out loud, but now they all knew it was the case. Unlike the two ladies that went before her, Maria walked to the Oracle Stone without any hesitation.
From a distance, the stone looked black as ink. But standing in front of it now, Maria realized that it was actually like a huge sunglass.
From her reflection on the stone, Maria looked rather calm and undisturbed, as if this talent test which would determine her fate, meant nothing to her.
Doris scoffed inwardly when she saw this. She was certain that Maria was only pretending. There was no way that she didn't want to stay in this prominent family. She believed Maria was surely just putting on a strong front.
ALL those who were asked to come back to the Jenkins family were all eager and only wished to succeed in this.
