Chapter: 1539
After a short walk down the hallway, they paused.
"Is this it?"
Barbara hesitated, suddenly uncertain about entering.
"Yes, right here," Jack affirmed, then knocked, announcing, "Sir, the Jenkins family representatives wish to see your office."
The door swung open of its own accord.
Inside, Barbara's eyes landed on a striking man seated in a wheelchair, absorbed in the view outside.
Anthony was captivating. A single glance couldn't capture his full allure.
She found herself studying Anthony longer than she intended, a blush staining her cheeks.
Only when Anthony turned to face her did Barbara collect herself.
“How may I assist you, Miss Herrera?" inquired Anthony, his tone detached.
"I... Wait for me here for a minute." Barbara gave instructions to the rest of her party, then stepped confidently into Anthony's office.
By the time she reached his desk, she felt her usual composure return.
"Mr. Wilson, it's nearing noon.
Anthony raised an eyebrow and gestured to his wristwatch, replying,
“Thank you, but I'm well-aware. I can tell the time."
A flicker of irritation crossed Barbara's face.
Was he genuinely this obtuse, or just feigning ignorance?
“My point being, considering the Sky Group's stature, have you made any luncheon arrangements for your guests?"
Barbara tried to convey her meaning with her eyes, hoping Anthony would catch on.
"Sure. We offer our staff meals in the canteen," Anthony responded, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Choosing to disregard his comment, Barbara continued, "This district is renowned. Surely, there are several upscale restaurants in proximity.
Acknowledging her point, Anthony instructed, “Jack, see to it Miss Herrera gets a takeaway."
"A takeaway? Are you serious?" Barbara's voice climbed in disbelief.
"What do you mean? For me to be impressed with a takeout when I hoped for an invitation to a classy restaurant? What is wrong with you?" Barbara's voice had a hint of irritation.
