Chapter: 329
“What do you mean by no one’s going to snatch her food now? Has someone ever done that before?"
Anthony looked at Maria with interest. She couldn't have said that for no reason.
Maria frowned and shook her head, silently cursing herself for opening her mouth. Now, she had to answer.
“Apart from us, the village also took in many other orphans. So, when we were children, food wasn't exactly enough for all of us. We had to scramble for it."
Anthony didn't really know much about Maria's past before they met. He didn't say anything, and he didn't even need to, because his eyes betrayed his thoughts.
"I... I was always too clumsy and weak to grab food for myself. Maria always helped me get food. Sometimes, she even had to fight to get it. Things only went better when Clark and Denis Later on went back to live in the village after their retirement and took Maria and me along..."
Maria shot Judy a glare that immediately made her stop talking. It was as though the words froze at the tip of her tongue.
“You talk too much!"
Maria grunted, sounding a Little angry. Anthony didn't know Maria could fight, but thanks to Judy, he now knew one more thing about her.
The restaurant might have been small, but the food was really delicious.
So after that, Maria focused on her noodles and soup. She actually found her moment of solace in the food here.
Judy too was enjoying her meat.
The moment her second bowl was empty, she picked up the third one and devoured it.
“Actually, I have to talk to you about something. It's about our one-year engagement. Do you think we can extend it?"
Anthony asked softly after a while.
Extend? Anthony wanted to extend the term of their engagement? “No way." Maria refused without hesitation.
Judy was so startled that she choked on her food and coughed a couple of times before sitting still, clutching the bowl of noodles in her hands.
Glancing between Maria and Anthony, she asked gingerly, “Can... Can I continue eating?"
Anthony was speechless. Shooting Judy a tight smile, he said, "Please continue."
“why do you want to extend the term of our engagement?"
